June 21, 2010 Schumer opposes plan to cut $37M for hydrogen fuel cell development HENRIETTA — U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer today said he would fight a $37 million cut in funding for hydrogen fuel cell development that is proposed in President Barack Obama’s budget. Schumer toured the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology, and drove a hydrogen-powered car developed at General Motors’ Honeoye Falls plant around the campus.
June 20, 2010 Bill seeks to ban sex offenders from working with kids Convicted sex offenders can legally work as tutors, coaches and in other positions where they are close to children, according to Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Sunday he said he would propose legislation to change that. Schumer's legislation would make it illegal for registered sex offenders to work or volunteer in positions that put them in "direct and substantial" contact with children.
